Two systems bring rounds of accumulating rain this weekend, beginning through the day today. The first round today-Sat should see 0.5-1.5 inches fall, with some locally higher amounts up to 2" possible. The second round Sun-Mon should be slightly more, with 0.5-2.0 inches expected. While this rain is expected to be largely beneficial, some heavier rain rates at times could lead to ponding of water in low lying areas and river levels are expected to come up.
There is a 30-40% chance of embedded thunderstorms today through the weekend as widespread rain occurs. The threat for severe weather has shifted farther to the southeast. However, there still remains the potential for a few storms to be strong at times with wind gusts up to 40 mph and hail the size of dimes. The best timing for this would be Friday evening and Saturday morning. Make sure to monitor the forecast for additional updates!
