Volleyball Falls In Four To Charleston

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Emma Falk paced the College of Charleston with nine kills and a .600 hitting average as the Cougars won their Colonial Athletic Association opener on Saturday over UNCW, 3-1 (23-25,25-18,25-19,25-18), at Hanover Hall.

The Cougars improved to 6-8 with the road win while the Seahawks, who committed 37 hitting errors, remained winless at home at 0-4 and fell to 3-9 overall and 1-2 in the CAA.

Falk added five total blocks as the Cougars built an 11-10 blocking advantage.

UNCW's Katie Lanz led UNCW with 14 kills and was joined in double digits by Hannah Forbes with a career-high 10. Caitlyn Callahan continued her steady production in the middle with seven kills and a match-high six blocks.

CofC libero Tynley Smeltzer collected a match-leading 31 digs.

Quinn Manley, meanwhile, led four Seahawks with double figure digs with 19.

The CAA series concludes on Sunday with a 2 p.m. start at Hanover Hall.
