It really shouldn’t have taken until the fourth game of the season for Notre Dame to dominate an opponent. Actually, it wasn’t even for a full game because North Carolina was by far the better team in the first quarter. Only then did the Irish get their act together and start doing the things that gave them a 45-32 win. Hey, better late than never.
That surely had to be the case for Irish fans who have been tortured while watching this team during the first month of the season. If their team had dropped to 1-3, it’s unlikely anyone would have been surprised. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case, and Irish fans can go into the bye week feeling a little better about they’ve seen. There might be concern that the week off could kill momentum, but you won’t find any of that as you look at some of the tweets Irish fans celebrated with:

UNC is always Notre Dame’s get-right game. Don’t know why, don’t really care why. We always find ourselves against the Heels. #ndfootball #GoIrish ☘️

Coach Freeman said we are a offensive and defensive line program. Check and check. Clean up the sloppiness during the bye and I’ll meet you in Vegas! And our hearts forever, love thee Notre Dame! #WeAreND #FreemanEra 🍀 pic.twitter.com/gtdCNLqfxd
