THEY SAY THEY’RE SEEING SEVERAL PATIENTS COMING DOWN WITH SIDE EFFECTS OF EATING TOXIC MUSHROOMS. DR. JAN YIN WITH CHILDREN SAYS THE SYMPTOM I’M SEEING IN THEIR PATIENTS ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE VARIETY SEEN IN NORTHERN OHIO. BUT THOSE WHO ARE SICK FOUND THE MUSHROOMS IN HAMILTON COUNTY. HE SAYS PART OF THE PROBLEM IS SOME MUSHROOMS THAT ARE TOXIC CAN ALSO LOOK LIKE ONES THAT ARE SAFE TO EAT. JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS EARLY DOESN’T MEAN THAT YOU HAVEN’T EATEN ONE OF THE DANGEROUS MUSHROOMS. BECAUSE. CAUSE. ONE OF THE THINGS WE OFTEN SEE ARE PEOPLE EATING MULTIPLE, ALL KIND OF SPECIES OF MUSHROOMS AT THE SAME TIME. THEY MIGHT BE GROWING KIND OF IN THE SAME AREA. DR. YIN SAYS A TOXIC MUSHROOM CAN LEAD TO SIDE EFFECTS LIKE UPSET STOMACH DIARRHEA AND VOMITING. IN MORE SERIOUS CASES, LIVER OR KIDNEY FAILURE MAY BE EVEN DEATH. THEIR ADVICE AVOID WILD MUSHROOMS. Doctors at Cincinnati Children's are warning residents in the area to stop eating wild mushrooms.The hospital sent out a tweet Thursday urging people to be careful after multiple cases of patients eating mushrooms that were highly toxic.The hospital said the mushrooms were foraged from a public area in southwest Ohio.Officials are reminding people to never eat wild mushrooms from any area.If you or someone you know has recently eaten wild mushrooms and has symptoms, you should immediately contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.This content is imported from Twitter.
