The investigation continues into a wreck that took the life of a two-year-old girl. It happened Saturday in Bedford. NBC 5’s Katy Blakey has the latest on the driver now charged with manslaughter.

A Mansfield man is facing at least a manslaughter charge for a crash that killed a 2-year-old girl on Saturday in Bedford, police say.

According to police, 36-year-old Joshua Paul Hagger was driving a Dodge truck northbound on Texas 121 at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday when he struck a sedan near Cheek Sparger Road while at a high speed.

A young girl, identified as Avyanna Caro, was in her car seat when her vehicle was struck by the pickup, police said. According to the medical examiner's office, the child died of blunt force injuries.

Two other people in the sedan were injured, police said. Their conditions are not immediately known.

On a GoFundMe page benefitting the family, the mother of the toddler writes, "Avyanna was a very happy, loving and gentle girl that had a life ahead of her. Our whole family is completely devastated by this tragic loss. I don't know what to do."

She signed it, "Please don't drink and drive."

Haggar was arrested at the scene. Bedford police did not confirm if he was intoxicated but said he may face additional charges. He's being held at the Euless Jail. A bond amount has not been set and it's not clear if he's obtained an attorney.

According to records obtained by NBC 5, Haggar has a lengthy criminal history that includes charges of theft, deadly conduct and multiple charges of possession of a controlled substance over a seven-year period in both Dallas and Tarrant counties.
