”In the interest of justice and fairness,” Maryland Judge Melissa Phinn recently vacated the 23-year-old conviction of Adnan Syed. Syed’s questionable trial and conviction was the subject of the first season of the podcast “Serial.”
Is there anyone in the legal system of Auglaize County or the State of Ohio with a similar concern with justice and fairness regarding the preposterous conviction of Dr. Doug Wine?
Wine was accused by his mother-in-law of sexually assaulting her while Doug’s 13-year-old son slept right next to her. She claimed she screamed multiple times during the “assault.” Neither the son nor any of the five people or three dogs in the house that night heard anything. This is impossible.
Yet not one person at the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office raised any questions about the accuser’s account. This is one of many aspects of the Wine case that makes no sense. My Book, “The Strange Case of Dr. Wine,” outlines them and is available on Ebay.
It is a sign of integrity when someone in the justice system steps forward and admits they got one wrong. Is there a judge, prosecutor or retired sheriff in Auglaize County capable of demonstrating this property?
