Free dental care clinic open in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A free dental care clinic is being hosted by the Rhode Island Mission of Mercy in Providence this weekend.

The clinic is being held at the Providence Community Health Center on Prairie Avenue.

“The importance of high-quality, accessible oral healthcare on a person’s overall health and well-being cannot be overstated. Clinics like this help uninsured, underinsured, or otherwise traditionally hard-to-reach Rhode Islanders with access the care they need,” said Dr. Jeffrey Dodge, president and founder of the Rhode Island Oral Health Foundation.

Hundreds of people turned out for cleanings, X-rays, fillings, root canal treatments, and tooth extractions Saturday.

Over 200 dental and medical workers from across the Ocean State are volunteering at the weekend clinic.

Anyone looking to be treated Sunday can line up starting at 5 a.m. Patients will be treated at a first come first serve basis.
