Stumbling shoplifting suspect arrested with vodka in his shorts: North Olmsted Police Blotter

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio –

Theft: Great Northern Shopping Center

Officers at 10:52 a.m. on Sept. 5 responded to Marc’s after the department received a report of a suspicious man leaving the store with his hand down his shorts, and he appeared to be holding onto something.

An employee yelled for the man to stop, but he refused and exited the store.

Officers located the suspect near an apartment complex on Country Club Boulevard and noted he appeared to be intoxicated and stumbled as he walked, according to a police report. When officers stopped the suspect, he removed a 750-milliliter bottle of vodka from his shorts. The value of the vodka was $4.31.

Officers arrested the suspect for theft and disorderly conduct while intoxicated.

Shoplifting: Brookpark Road

Walmart security called the police department at 8:03 p.m. on Sept. 4 regarding a female shoplifting suspect who security observed apparently scanning a tag at the self-checkout register that did not match the items she was placing in shopping bags.

A security employee also said the suspect failed to scan some items entirely. The woman failed to pay for $95.12 worth of merchandise. Security stopped the woman as she began to leave the store.

The woman was charged with petty theft.

Theft: Brookpark Road

Two officers responded at 5:54 p.m. on Sept. 4 to Walmart regarding a suspected female shoplifter in custody.

Store security accused the woman of ringing up items with the wrong price tags and concealing items under two robes she purchased. She was accused of stealing 30 items with a total value of more than $200, according to a police report.

She was charged with misdemeanor theft, according to the police report.

Shoplifting: Brookpark Road

Officers at 6:41 p.m. on Sept. 2 responded to Walmart regarding a suspected shoplifter accused of putting store merchandise including a battery pack, chocolates, and a can opener in a backpack and attempting to walk out of the store without paying.

The highly agitated man was yelling for offers to kill him, but he later calmed down and appeared remorseful for his outburst, according to a police report.

The total amount of the theft was more than $109, according to the police report.

The man is charged with petty theft.
