ZACH, IT JUST. JUST IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS, WE’VE SEEN TWO EDMOND PD OFFICERS HITS WHILE THEY’RE ON THEIR MOTORCYCLES. AND TONIGHT, SERGEANT WELLS IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION. PI ENGINE REVVING AND TURNING AROUND AND THEN BAM. AND THEN I HEARD SIRENS AND MORE SIRENS AND EDMOND POLICE OFFICER HOSPITALIZED TONIGHT. SERGEANT JOSEPH WELLS WAS HIT WHEN A 24 YEAR OLD SUSPECT MADE A U-TURN ON SOUTH BOULEVARD DURING A CHASE. WE’RE TOLD SERGEANT WELLS FIRED A SHOT AT THE DRIVER BUT DID NOT HIT HIM. IT WASN’T SLOWING DOWN. SO I GOT ON MY BIKE AND I CAME OVER HERE. I’M ABOUT A THIRD OF A MILE AWAY FROM HERE. AND. BUT I COULD HEAR IT ALL HAPPENING. A MAN WHO LIVES NEARBY TOLD US WHEN HE GOT THERE, THE ROAD WAS FLOODED WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT AND MEDICS. I WENT OVER THERE. I WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CREEK AND I SAW THEM LEFT. I GUESS I DON’T KNOW IF IT WAS A MOTORCYCLE OFFICER OR NOT, BUT THEY LIFTED SOMEBODY OUT OF THE CREEK AND PUT HIM IN AN AMBULANCE. AND IT TURNS OUT IT WAS SERGEANT WELLS. HE’S ALIVE, BUT IN BAD SHAPE. OUR MOTORCYCLE OFFICER WAS THROWN INTO THE DITCH ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE ROAD OVER HERE WHEN THEY FOUND HIM. A SMALL SIGN OF HOPE AS WE BEGAN TO BRING HIM OUT. HE DID OPEN HIS EYES. THE LAST KNOWN INFORMATION I HAVE ON HIM IS THAT HE IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION BUT STABLE. POLICE SAY THE DRIVER, GARRETT TRAMMEL, CAUSED SEVERAL OTHER ACCIDENTS AND WAS POSSIBLY DRUNK BEFORE HE CRASHED INTO THE POLICE MOTORCYCLE. HE HIT SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES AS HE WAS RUNNING FROM OUR OFFICER. AND WE KNOW SERGEANT WELLS AND THE SUSPECT ARE BOTH HERE AT OH U. MEDICAL TONIGHT. OKLAHOMA CIT
