A man is dead, and several people were hurt in two crashes on the Turnpike Saturday afternoon.
The two crashes caused major delays headed northbound near West Gardiner Saturday.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passenger was brought to a hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The names of those involved in the crash will not be released until the family has been notified.
State police say the initial crash at around 11:11 a.m. involved several cars at mile 105 and 106 in Farmingdale. Multiple people taken to the hospital for care.

To allow investigators and first responders to work safely, officials closed the Turnpike at mile 103. Northbound traffic on I-95 detoured at Exit 102 in West Gardiner, with northbound traffic on I-295 northbound diverted to Exit 51.
Maine's Turnpike Authority has confirmed the scenes are now clear, and traffic was reopened by 1:45 p.m.
