The Fall Equinox is here, and as we step into a new season, some Curry County plant lovers are opening their farm for fall festivities.
This weekend, Dragonfly Farm in Langlois welcomes the community in celebration of the changing of the seasons.
It's their Fall Equinox Celebration.
The farm along Route 101 hopes guests feel the small-town welcome.
"It's pretty cool because one of our first years open was one of our first music events that we hosted, which was right around the Equinox," said Jenine Manning, co-owner of Dragonfly Farm. "It's been a few years since we've done something because of Covid, so we're excited to bring something back and get the community here, and just get people out."
The instruments are already laid out for the first night's drum circle, but there will be more than musical sounds over the four-day affair.
They'll start with lighting the firepit for a bonfire.
"We wanted to do something for free that we could bring people in, and we do live music events with bands and stuff that we charge for. So we thought, this is something that we like to do after hours here when we close. We jam out, and we have a bonfire. So we're like, well, let's just invite people."
Then on Friday, musicians will light up the stage.
And at $25 per car Friday evening, visitors also get to explore local food and drink trucks.
The family-friendly event didn't forget to add a fascinating touch for the children.
They'll have Washed Ashore on-site Saturday with kids activities focused on preserving the environment.
The celebration is two-fold as the farm has its grand opening of a new section of the farm, which means big discounts on garden goodies.
"Fall is for planting. It's a great time to get plants established, especially the perennial stuff, because the water from all the fall rains helps establish the roots."
The 8-year-old farm will also have a community yard sale Saturday and Sunday featuring 10 local sellers.
Manning and her mother started Dragonfly Farm at the Bandon Farmers Market but decided in 2015 to open their current location.
Thursday's drum circle and bonfire begin at 5:30 p.m. and runs through 9 p.m. at 49295 Highway 101 in Langlois.
