PERRY, Ga. (WGXA) -- The Perry Houston County airport held a safety course for interested pilots in the area. Following a lunch, air force profiles taught the few dozen attendees exactly how they can stay safe at the Perry airport when they have no tower including collision avoidance and runway incursions.

"Because it's good piloting. And it's good for the aviation industry to get together and discuss, talk about aviation in general. Plus, it's what we love to do," said Airport Manager James Marquardt.

With a new hanger and operations building, Marquardt says Perry airport has seen an increase in traffic and they want pilots to know how to be safe anywhere in the sky.
