American Airlines expands Sky Harbor Mexico destinations, adds Monterrey

Posted

American Airlines will begin daily, nonstop service from Phoenix to Monterrey, Mexico in January.

“Mexico is Phoenix’s number one trade and tourism partner which makes air service to Monterrey increasingly important for our local economy,” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said.

“As American Airlines expands its international service, Phoenix benefits from increased connectivity to emerging global markets and sought-after leisure destinations.”

Monterrey is Mexico’s third-largest city, the capital of the state of Nuevo Leon and is a business hub for northern Mexico. Flights on an Embraer 175 are scheduled to begin Jan. 10.

There has not been a nonstop flight between Phoenix and Monterrey since 2004.

The daily flight from Sky Harbor Airport will depart Phoenix at 7:50 p.m. and arrive in Monterrey at 11 p.m. The return flight will depart Monterrey at 8 a.m. and arrive in Phoenix at 9:40 a.m. The aircraft has capacity for 76 passengers.

This will be the 13th Mexican destination American serves from Phoenix Sky Harbor.
