WASHINGTON (7News) —
Wow, there was a definite nip in the air this morning across the DMV! After a brisk start to this first weekend of fall, temperatures will moderate into the lower 70s later this afternoon.

The winds will be noticeably absent, and scattered clouds should part for sunshine as the afternoon wears on.
Our next weather maker will bring a chance for rain and a few storms by Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening for the start of Rosh Hashanah.
Then it's dry and seasonable to start the work week.

The tropics continue to be active and newly formed Ian could be the 1st storm of the season to make landfall in Florida by the middle of next week.
