Man killed in York City shooting identified

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – The 28-year-old man killed during a York City shooting early Saturday morning has been identified.

On Saturday, September 24, 2022, at approximately 12:43 a.m., York City Police responded to the 400 block of Wallace St for a reported shooting.

The York County Coroner’s office says officers discovered Akwame Anderson of York with a gunshot wound. Anderson was transported to York Hospital where he later died from his injuries. Detectives were notified and are investigating the homicide.

“We’ve done a lot of good things as far as getting those illegal firearms off of the streets. We just need to focus more on individuals out here doing this type of crime and kind of touch their heart,” said Captain Lentz of the York City Police Department.
