HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – A 40-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in Huntington Beach Friday evening.
Huntington Beach Police Department officers responded at approximately 7 p.m. to Warner Avenue, east of Springdale Street where they found a man lying in the street, said Lt. Shawn Randell.
According to police, the preliminary investigation determined the gray 2015 Acura was traveling eastbound on Warner Avenue and struck the pedestrian who was crossing Warner Avenue outside of the crosswalk east of Springdale Street.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Acura, a 34-year-old man from Huntington Beach, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, Randell said.
The HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it was asked to call 714-536-5666.
