NK-Arnold School District to recognize distinguished alumni

New Kensington-Arnold School District is accepting nominations for its Distinguished Alumni Award.

Consideration will be given to candidates who have made outstanding contributions in, but not limited to, the areas of athletics, business, education, journalism, law, manufacturing, medicine, performing arts, public service, science and the trades.

StoryWalk to be installed in Fireman Park in Arnold

Peoples Library and the Allegheny County Library Association Youth Services will sponsor a free Storywalk through Oct. 4 in Fireman Park, Riverside Drive, Arnold.

Visitors can read the story, “Daniel Finds A Poem,” by Micha Archer and stroll around the park during park operating hours.

Halloween cash bash to benefit Animal Protectors

Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley will host a Howl-O-Ween Cash Bash Oct. 22 at the Quality Inn, Tarentum Bridge Road, New Kensington.

Doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner will be at 5. Admission is $30 in advance; $35 at the door. There will be small games of chance, a buffet dinner, basket raffle and 50/50.

Parents should plan to drop off children at 1 p.m. and pick them up at 5 p.m. Children will go on a 1.5-mile hike and gather ingredients to create magic crystal wands to take home, play games and enjoy a snack.
