Tekonsha routs Bellevue, improves to 4-1 in 8-man football

BELLEVUE, MI. — The Tekonsha Indians continue to absolutely roll in the land of 8-man football, steamrolling the Bellevue Broncos Friday night by the score of 64-20.Tekonsha jumped all over Bellevue early, scoring 24 points before the Broncos could even find the scoreboard.The scoring started with 1:14 left in the first quarter as Tekonsha’s Xander Kilbourn ran in from 10-yards out for the first touchdown of the game. Wyatt Blashfield ran in the two point conversion, giving the Indians an 8-0 lead after one quarter of play.Tekonsha added to their lead with 9:36 left in the second quarter as Kilbourn broke free for a huge run, scoring from 76-yards out to add to lead. Blashfield ran in the two point conversion, giving the Indians an early 16-0 lead.Tekonsha found pay dirt one more time before Bellevue did, scoring on a 4 yard touchdown run by Blashfield at the 5:09 mark of the quarter. Kilbourn ran in the two point conversion, pushing the Tekonsha lead to 24-0.Bellevue finally got on the board at the 3:54 mark of the second quarter as Birk found Dahlem for a 55-yard touchdown pass and catch, closing the score to 24-6.Tekonsha ended the half scoring the football once more, scoring on a 11-yard touchdown run by Kilbourn, followed by the 2-point conversion from Blashfield, finding the halftime score of 32-6.Tekonsha started off the third quarter with yet another touchdown as they took the opening kickoff the length of the field, with Blashfield running in the ball in from 3-yards out at the 8:51 mark of the third quarter. Blashfield scored the 2 points as well, pushing the lead to 40-6.Bellevue managed to get on the board two more times in the game thanks to Birk who scored on a 23-yard touchdown run at 7:17 of the third quarter and a 25-yard touchdown run as time expired to find the final score.Adding to Tekonsha’s point total was Kilbourn with a 45-yard touchdown run, pushing the lead to 48-14 after the Blashfield 2 point conversion with 5:35 left in the third quarter.At the 2:24 mark of the third quarter the Indians finally went to the air, as Blashfield found senior Isaac Henry through the air for a 14-yard touchdown pass. Kilbourn ran in the two point conversion, finding the score of 56-14.Tekonsha’s final points came on yet another big play as senior running back Derek Booker broke off a huge run of 96 yards for the touchdown. Booker also ran in the two point conversion, finding the final score of 64-20 after the final Bellevue score as time expired.Xander Kilbourn led the Tekonsha offense on the ground, carrying the ball nine times for 178 yards and three touchdowns while also adding some big news through the air, catching the ball six times for 36 yards.Senior Wyatt Blashfield had yet another big game, both throwing and running the ball, carrying the ball 17 times for 186 yards and two scores while also adding 10 of 16 passing for 129 yards, one touchdown and one interception.Derek Booker added one rush for 96 yards while Isaac Henry chipped in with three catches for 67 yards and one touchdown. Kyle Redd had one catch for five yards in the victory. Booker also led the Tekonsha defense, recording nine total tackles, including one for a loss, one pass break up and one interception.Also adding to the Tekonsha defense was Emmitt Blashfield with three tackles, one for a loss; Wyatt Blashfield with five tackles; Brayden Packard with four tackles and three quarterback hurries; Anthony Carter with four tackles; Gamble with three tackles, one pass breakup and one interception; Collin Newland with three tackles, two for a loss; and Ben Mead with 16 tackles with two tackles for a loss.With the tough loss Bellevue falls to 0-5 overall on the season and will next see action Friday when they host Pittsford.Tekonsha meanwhile continues to roll, wining their last four games to improve to 4-1 on the season. Tekonsha will next see action on Friday when they host North Adams Jerome.
