Friday football results include Yellville-Summit suffering 1st loss

The Yellville-Summit High School football team opened conference play with its first loss of the season on Friday. The Panthers wrapped up the home stand by falling to Perryville 44-6. Yellville-Summit drops to 4-1 on the season and 0-1 in the 3A-2, and they’ll travel to Melbourne next week.

Salem was dominant in its league opener on Friday. The Greyhounds went on the road and shut out Atkins 50-0. Salem improves to 4-1 on the year and 1-0 in the 3A-2, and they’ll host another group of Greyhounds from Newport next Friday.

Harrison also played its first conference game of the season. The Goblins were back in front of the home crowd and defeated Farmington 21-14. Harrison is now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the 5A-West, and they’ll head to Prairie Grove next week.

On the eight-man level, Izard County won its first ever homecoming football game. The Cougars were able to top Midland by a final of 36-22. Izard County’s record is 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the 2A/1A-North, and they’ll host Rector next Friday.

Marshall had a rough night on the home field. The Bobcats suffered a 51-26 loss to Fountain Lake, the second-ranked team in Classes 4A/3A. Marshall falls to 1-4 on the season and 1-2 in the 4A/3A division, and they’ll travel to Mountain View next week.

Mountain View was on the road for a matchup of the other two teams in the Classes 4A/3A Top Three. The top-ranked Yellowjackets topped No. 3 Genoa Central 30-12. Mountain View is 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the 4A/3A division.
