Storms that moved into the Phoenix area Friday evening delayed the start of multiple high school football games, including the night's marquee clash between Scottsdale Saguaro and Chandler.

The game at Chandler High School, a rematch of last season's Open Division Championship game won by Saguaro, was among several games delayed in the southeast Valley because of lightning. The 7 p.m. kickoff was moved to 8:30 p.m.

Delays also occured at Basha  High School in Chandler, where the Bears are hosting Mesa Mountain View, Hamilton High School in Chandler, where Horizon was visiting,  Queen Creek Casteel High School, where the Colts were hosting Casa Grande, and the Verrado at Desert Vista game in Ahwatukee.

Other games also saw delays, but most got underway a short time after their scheduled 7 p.m. starts.

Monsoon weather also caused multiple delays at games across the Valley two weeks ago, and several the week before that.
