RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Richmond police made an arrest in Friday’s shooting on Hull Street Road.

Officers were called to the scene shortly after 11 a.m. on Sept. 23 for a person shot at the Beautifull beauty supply store.

At the scene, officers found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Keniyah Vaughn, 24, of Chesterfield, was charged with attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

“I saw police cars, I knew something happened but I didn’t know what it initially was,” Jose Trigueros, who owns the car dealership next to the beauty store, said.

Trigueros said he was just opening up his business for the day when he saw police lights.

“I saw three police cars and I believe a detective outside the business next door,” Trigueros said.

Trigueros said out of his 15 years in business he’s never seen a shooting that close to his store.

“We’ve never had a shooting in this area, this close in proximity and not even in daylight, you know,” Trigueros said.

Trigueros said with all the recent shootings in Richmond his church group, Mt. Gileah Full Gospel, has been trying to do what it can to turn it around.

“Every month we go feed probably about a 1,000 or more meals, but pray for the needs of the people, and do something to stop this violence,” Trigueros said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Major Crimes Detective S. Jones at (804) 646-5329 or Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
