As we have been telling you this entire week, Friday easily became the coldest high temperature day in nearly 5 months! The high temperature today was only 55 degrees.
The last time Syracuse did not reach 60 degrees was on April 30th when the high was 58 degrees. On April 29th, it was even more similar to Friday with a high of 53 degrees.
With cold air in place and the wind becoming light and variable overnight, conditions are ripe for parts of our area to get frost.
An official frost ADVISORY is in effect for the counties in blue below:
A frost advisory means that cold temperatures will reach the dew (frost) point and cause frost across parts or all of the counties listed above. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
In this particular case, I also believe that the coldest sections of eastern Oswego, southern Oneida, portions of Madison, Chenango, Cortland, and even maybe Cayuga and Tompkins counties could see some localized patchy frost because temperatures will drop into the middle to perhaps lower 30s.
Areas that are not the coldest countryside should see temperatures drop into the upper 30s to lower 40s. If you are closer to Lake Ontario or right on the shoreline of Oneida Lake & the Finger Lakes, temperatures should be in the middle to upper 40s .
If your area has a frost advisory or has the chance for frost, here is what you should do:
