Two suspects arrested for car crash that killed two women in Hillsboro

Aaliyah Shelton, 20, and Adriana Shelton, 19, were turning out of a parking lot in September 2022 when another car slammed into their vehicle at high speed.

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a September 2022 car crash in Hillsboro that killed two women, Hillsboro police announced Friday. The suspects, both minors, were booked at the Donald E. Long juvenile detention center.

The two women killed in the Sept. 22 crash were identified the following day as 19-year-old Adriana Shelton from Sheridan and 20-year-old Aaliyah Shelton from Beaverton. The two of them were cousins.

The crash happened at about 7:40 p.m., police said. The cousins were in a car turning out of the Sunset Square shopping center when another car, travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on 185th Avenue, crashed into them.

The vehicle that hit them continued south for about 100 yards, police said at the time. One of the vehicle's occupants was transported to a local trauma center for injuries. Witnesses told police that a second occupant ran from the scene.
