Helping save lives and raising awareness about Silver Alerts -- that's the goal of Alzheimer's Tennessee500 Statewide Race to make Alzheimer's a Memory.
The race started Tuesday in Memphis, with a purple pace car making a 500 mile trip across the state.
It stopped at 12 Walmart stores along the way, before coming to an end in Bristol on Friday.
The regional pit stop celebrations at Walmart featured fun, food, prizes, and most importantly, information about how to prepare and respond when a loved one with memory loss gets lost -- with the use of Silver Alerts.
"Silver Alerts are a little like Amber Alerts, but they are for adults," said Kay Watson, with Alzheimer's Tennessee. "If someone is lost or confused and can't get back home and you see a Silver Alert has been issued, be on the lookout for that vehicle or that person."
Both the Bristol, Tennessee Police Department and Sullivan County's Sheriff's Office were also on hand at the event, talking about response on a local level.
Alzheimer's Tennessee says 6 out of 10 individuals with dementia will wander.
Walmart employees told News 5 they were happy to partner with Alzheimer's Tennessee to help raise awareness.
You can also donate to the cause through Friday, September 30, on alzTennessee.org/500. Donors are eligible to win prizes from Walmart.
