Wellsville volleyball picks up fifth win over GV/Belfast

BELMONT — A masterful and dominant start to their game over the road gave the Wellsville Lady Lions a big boost going forward on Thursday, as they were able to roll towards victory in three straight sets over host Genesee Valley/Belfast to gather their fifth win in the first six games by a 25-9, 25-13, 25-13 count.

The offense provided a sound showing for the Lady Lions (5-1), with Averee Palmatier leading the charge with a team-high four kills. Adding help along the way was Natalie Adams, who had three kills. Lindsey Stuck chipped in with three aces and two more kills, while setter Maddy Parks handed out 14 assists to pair with nine aces of her own from the service line.

Stats for Genesee Valley/Belfast (0-7) were not made available to report.

Both teams will have Avoca/Prattsburgh up next on their schedule, with Genesee Valley/Belfast having first crack with a road trip on Saturday to visit the Lady Titans in an 11 a.m. first serve, while Wellsville awaits their chance on Monday in a road trip of their own at 7:30 p.m.
