The Golden State Warriors had a little bit of turnover on their roster this NBA offseason. After winning their fourth NBA Championship in eight years, they would have loved to bring everyone back but that just wasn’t a feasible thing to do.

Otto Porter Jr., Gary Payton II, Damion Lee, Juan Toscano-Anderson and Chris Chiozza all moved on this offseason, signing free agent deals elsewhere. The team was able to re-sign Kevon Looney and also brought on Donte DiVincenzo and JaMychal Green to fill out the depth on the roster.

While all of those moves were made weeks ago during the middle of the summer, the Warriors made another addition today. Andre Iguodala made a special announcement on his podcast page that he hosts with former NBA player Evan Turner, that he would be returning for his 19th season in the NBA and will be playing with the Warriors.

This is something that will surely elate Golden State. They were giving Iguodala his space to decide what he wanted to do, as they were holding a roster spot open for him. They were pursuing him, as this wasn’t a charity handout. The organization believes that Iguodala can still help them win games.

While he may not make as big of an impact on the court production-wise anymore, head coach Steve Kerr knows that he can turn to him in a pinch to play some minutes. What the Warriors would have missed the most about Iguodala is the veteran leadership and presence he has.

There isn’t a player in the NBA that can do what Iguodala can for the Warriors. While there are veteran leaders on every team, he is someone that connects with every player, demanding respect from the veterans and young players alike. He has been there for every Warriors championship during this dynasty and commands respect from every player.
