The St. Louis Cardinals finally snapped out of their offensive rut yesterday with a 5-4 comeback win at Petco Park.

Down 3-1 in the top of the seventh, Brendan Donovan launched his first career grand slam to put St. Louis ahead.

And so, the Redbirds snapped a three-game losing skid and a three-game scoreless streak.

It hasn’t exactly been a pretty month for the Cards, but yesterday’s win could help them get their swagger back.

On Twitter, one Cardinals fan offered up a little silver lining for fans who may be concerned.

Even though they’re 12-8 in the month of September, this fan correctly pointed out that it’s better for them to be “winning ugly” than “losing pretty every time.”

A Silver Lining For The Cards

Honestly, there’s no better way to say what this fan said.

He hit the nail right on the head.

“Ugly” wins are better than “pretty” losses.

Yesterday was a big win for the Cardinals in a game where they had to fight back from a late deficit and get themselves back up off the mat after being shutout three straight games.

A win like that, especially against a team like the San Diego Padres, who have been playing better lately, could end up being a huge confidence builder for St. Louis as they head into an important three-game series this weekend with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The offense has been one of the many strengths of this Cardinals team this year.

It just hadn’t been there for the past couple of games.

Now, it looks like they’re back in full force.

St. Louis has a magic number of five to clinch the NL Central and can get it done as soon as Sunday.
