THIS AFTERNOON WITH BREAKING NEWS OUT OF ANDERSON COUNTY. A HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE HAS DIED. KIARA JOHNSON ATTENDED PALMETTO HIGH SCHOOL IN WILLIAMSTON. WE HAVE LEARNED THAT SHE DIED THIS WEEK. The students at Palmetto High School and community members wore purple Friday in honor of a student-athlete who died this week. Kierra Johnson, a ninth-grader at the high school, played volleyball and basketball for Palmetto. Johnson died this week. The district said Friday that the Palmetto community wore purple, her favorite color, in her memory on Friday and at the football game. Pendleton High hosted Palmetto Friday and their student body also wore purple in her memory, the district said. Palmetto student groups, as well as her friends, are planning fundraisers to help her family. Here is a link to the GoFundMe to help the family.
