Though it may be the end for General Hospital’s Brando Corbin (or maybe not, since we know soap operas like to resurrect characters pretty often), it’s just the beginning for the actor behind him, Johnny Wactor. In a heartfelt message posted to his Instagram just days after his character was killed off the show, Wactor showed gratitude to the fans and hinted at what’s next for him.

Wactor, who played Brando in General Hospital, was cut from the show when his character became the first victim of Port Charles’ new serial killer, The Hook. While it looked like he may have been recovering from the stabbing incident, he ultimately perished as a result of the poisoned weapon.

“It’s been a couple days since the demise of Brando Corbin in Port Charles as we know it and I have to tell you, I have been so blown away by the reaction from the fans,” he said in the video. “I had no idea you guys cared so much about my character.”

Detailing the “unique experience” of acting on the soap opera, Wactor added, “We get to show up and bring these stories to life and bring these characters to life. And it just makes our job that much sweeter. It’s already the coolest job in the world to get to act. To see how much you guys care and how much stake it has, I’m just so blessed and I’m gonna miss you guys.”

He also thanked fans for supporting his future endeavors whether they be “back in Port Charles” or in other shows and films, which he revealed, “there’s some coming.”

Regarding his surprising exit from the series, Wactor recently told Soap Opera Digest that there’s “no bad blood” and that he wishes “everyone at GH the best.”

General Hospital airs on weekdays at 3 p.m. ET on ABC.
