CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) —
Charleston police said Saturday, Sept. 24, will be the last day of the year to test for those interested in becoming an officer with the agency.

Testing will be conducted at 8 a.m. at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center, according to a Facebook post shared by the Charleston Police Department. Reserve a testing spot by texting 304-941-4316.
Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Starting pay is $53,000 per year after completion of paid training. There also are overtime opportunities.
There is a $15,000 sign-on bonus for certified officers.

Officers have paid sick and vacation leave, paid holidays and health, dental and vision insurance.
