Fall Decorating Contest Announced

As fall approaches, people are starting to get into the spirit of Halloween. This means pulling seasonally appropriate clothes out of storage, looking for the perfect Halloween costume, and decorating for the holiday.

Courtney Mead, director of the Olivet Community Chamber of Commerce, has announced a fall decorating contest, to take place throughout the month of October. According to an email she sent to prospective participants, “This contest has the opportunity to [bring] traffic into Olivet to check out the displays and gain awareness of our business community.”

Participants must register by Oct. 7 and can do so by emailing olivetcommunitychamber@gmail.com. College students are also encouraged to enter their student housing displays. Judging will be by public popular vote, with voting boxes displayed at each participant location. The voting period begins on Oct. 10 and ends on Oct. 22. The winners will be announced on Oct. 24.

The theme for the decorations is mums of mummies, and displays must be family-friendly.
