Goodwill will be collecting and matching donations in local stores for the American Red Cross to help people affected by western wildfires.
From Sunday, September 25 to Saturday, October 1, stores in Brookings, Cottage Grove, Eugene, Florence, Junction City, North Bend, and Springfield will collect donations by rounding up customers' purchases, or anyone can come in and make a donation at any register.
Goodwill will match up to $20,000 in donations made in those stores.
"Supporting communities before, during and after disasters is a collaborative effort,” said Red Cross Cascades Region CEO, Priscilla Fuentes. “No one organization can do it alone and partnering with Goodwill Industries of Lane and South Coast Counites allows us to provide help, hope and comfort to those impacted by recent wildfires.”
Libby Steffen-Schafermeyer, spokesperson for Goodwill: “Our hearts go out to those impacted by these devastating wildfires and we hope Goodwill’s match of the funds raised by our generous communities will assist the Red Cross Cascades Region with meeting the immediate needs of those affected.”
