I guarantee we've all thought about how crazy it would be to own an exotic pet.

Now, I wouldn't go as far as trying to own a tiger or chimpanzee because they're significantly stronger than me, but maybe something much smaller.  I'm definitely not trying to get killed, slowly munched on, or torn apart from a pet in my own home... like the woman from Connecticut who got her face mauled off by her 200-pound chimp.

Recently, we've talked about exotic animals that are totally illegal to own in Illinois and for valid reason.  Here are a few exotic animals you simply can't own because it's just insane anybody would want to raise an animal with as much power as these:

Lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, cheetahs, cougars, bears, and bobcats.

What about a Sugar Glider, though?

I have a ton of friends who have all sorts of pets ranging from bunnies, to giant dogs, to snakes, and even ferrets.  Nothing TOO crazy, but then I got to wondering if Sugar Gliders were even legal to own in Illinois?

They're small, adorable, and can FLY nearly 165 feet!

According to WorldPopulationReview, there are no state laws against ownership of Sugar Gliders.  Sweet, I guess I'm adopting one asap.

"Sugar gliders are palm-size possums that can glide half the length of a soccer pitch in one trip. These common, tree-dwelling marsupials are native to tropical and cool-temperate forests in Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea.

Their “wings” are made from a thin skin stretched between the fifth forefinger and back ankle, and they use their bushy tails as rudders as they soar through the air." - National Geographic
