Two Harrisburg men are in custody in the Boone County Jail on suspicion of stealing two vehicles, hundreds of dollars worth of tools, and other items from a Harrisburg business on Sept. 10.
According to Boone County Sheriff's Captain Brian Leer, 20-year-old Zachary Perkins and 22-year-old Derrick Moore were arrested after the wheels of one of the stolen vehicles were found in the possession of Perkins. An investigation established probable cause that on Sept. 10, Perkins and Moore broke into the business located in the 400 block of Sexton Street in Harrisburg where they stole tools and the keys to the business's vehicles.
According to Leer, the two then stole two vehicles valued at $45,000. Both vehicles have since been recovered, but one of them had been destroyed.
Moore is suspected of Second-Degree Burglary and Stealing. Perkins is suspected of Second-Degree Burglary and Stealing of more than $25,000.
The two are in custody in the Boone County Jail awaiting formal charges.
