At the District 6 Double-A sectional yesterday at the Ebensburg Country Club, 33 golfers advanced to next Tuesday’s District championship.
From the Heritage Conference, West Shamokin’s Sean McCullough shot a 78, good four a third place tie a stroke out of second and six strokes off the first place finish of Central Martinsburg’s Griffin Snowberger. Also moving on were Northern Cambria’s Brady Houser, who tied West Shamokin’s Alex Talmadge for 7th at 80; West Shamokin’s Travis Johns joined River Valley’s Jake Pynos in a group of five golfers at 88; and West Shamokin’s Gunnar Shoop squeezed in to the final at the cut line of 91.
West Shamokin finished second in the team completion with a 338, nine strokes behind St. Joseph’s. The top four schools are still alive for the District 6 team title. Bishop McCort finished third and Central Martinsburg was fourth.
