Tourist Commission to partner with other area tourism agencies for ARPA application

The monthly meeting of the Lake Cumberland Tourist Commission earlier this week was a source of several notable items of local interest.

Tourism Director Danielle Wilson said the county is working alongside several other Lake Cumberland region counties and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to apply for multi-jurisdictional American Rescue Plan Act funding to hopefully get new signage placed around the lake and putting kiosks at each marina that contains a map of the lake and where they currently are as well as directional markers to coves, points, and other tourist spots. This application process will begin in October.

New signage will appear next month at the former Cumberland Lodge behind Arby’s in Russell Springs as the motel is under new ownership. The lodge is being rebranded as the Laker Inn.

Wilson also said the area was once again promoted at the Kentucky State Fair in August. More than 4,700 visitor guides were given out during the two-week long event.
