Motorcyclist killed in crash at Mishawaka Ave. & 31st St. in South Bend

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in South Bend.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sep. 22, at Mishawaka Avenue and 31st Street when the motorcycle and a car collided.

The male operator of the motorcycle died at the scene. Nobody inside the car was hurt.

The St. Joseph County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team is investigating factors into the crash.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office identified the motorcyclist who died in this statement sent to 95.3 MNC:

Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at approximately 5:08 p.m., law enforcement was called to the intersection of East Mishawaka Avenue and South 31st Street for a collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

The initial investigation found that Dale Arthur Womack, Jr., 32, of Mishawaka was driving a motorcycle east on Mishawaka Avenue and that a 26-year-old South Bend woman was driving a car north on 31st Street. The two vehicles then collided in the intersection.

Mr. Womack was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified.

The woman, who was uninjured, was cooperative. Toxicology reports are pending.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team
