E.A.K. Ramen is one of the newest chains of ramen restaurants to hit New York. Originally founded in Japan in 2008, E.A.K quickly grew and became one of the most popular franchises in the region. With nearly 500 partnership stores across Asia and parts of the US, E.A.K. Ramen (known as Machida Shoten in Japan) is on a mission to make their unique ramen international.

E.A.K Ramen is dedicated to highlighting a unique form of ramen known as Iekei. A fusion of Tonkotsu style ramen from the West (Kyushu) and Shoyu style from the East (Tokyo), Iekei ramen distinguishes itself with a thick broth and a mixture of both chicken and pork. E.A.K entered the New York market in 2017, when they opened their first East Coast expansion at 469 West 11th Street in Greenwich Village. Since then, the brand has been steadily expanding, opening up outposts in LA and across the West Coast, hoping to one day operate a thousand different locations across the US.

Their latest New York expansion saw the brand opening up in Hells Kitchen in 2017, where they are still operating successfully today. Soon though, busy travelers will be able to try the ramen out for themselves when the team launches their latest expansion at Moynihan Train Hall. Joining the legions of venerable restaurants that have attached themselves to Penn Station’s exciting new extension. There, guests will be able to enjoy some of E.A.K’s signature dishes, including the popular Zebra bowl featuring pork and chicken, and the Oh So Hot! with fried garlic, spinach, chasu, and spicy ground chicken and nori.

At the moment, the E.A.K. team is getting ready to meet with the community board in order to acquire a new beer and wine license for their space. They are proposing operating hours of 10:00 AM – 12:00 AM every day, seven days a week. While the team has not yet revealed when they intend to open the new location, you can follow E.A.K Ramen on Instagram for regular updates on their latest endeavors.
