'Violent' felon arrested after police chase around Louisville
A police chase involving a "violent felon" stretched across Louisville and impacted some Jefferson County Public Schools bus routes on Thursday.
Louisville Metro Police Department said around 12:45 p.m. their Seventh Division responded to the 6500 block of Bardstown Road for an active bank hold up.
Police said the suspect, Corey Ware, 28, fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash in his vehicle. They attempted to stop Ware in the 4500 block of Bardstown Road, but he refused to stop and a chase ensued.
The chase started in Fern Creek and, at one point, was on the Watterson Expressway. It eventually ended at Arthur Street and University Boulevard near Interstate 65.
They said the suspect struck a civilian and police vehicle, but no one was injured.
He fled from his vehicle after and was eventually taken into custody with the help of an Air Unit.
Ware was charged with first and second-degree robbery, fleeing or evading police, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid.
JCPS paused some of its bus routes during the chase, but resumed normal operations shortly after.
