Gwinnett County, Georgia, has validated 15,000 to 20,000 voters after a voter campaign challenged the status of thousands of voters before the November midterm election.
County officials announced at the meeting of the election board on Wednesday that they had approximately 16,000 voters left to go through, per a Reuters report. The county has a total of 562,000 active voters.

The challenge came from VoterGA, which filed an inquiry into the voters under the Election Integrity Act of 2021. VoterGA is joined by the American Project and is similar to other campaigns and groups that back former President Donald Trump’s claims the 2020 election was stolen.
Elections supervisor Zach Manifold told the board that 15,000 to 20,000 voters followed a legitimate process to receive their ballots.
Voting rights organizations, such as the American Civil Liberties Union, have expressed their disapproval of the challenge, stating that VoterGA is “abusing the law,” as they claim the Election Integrity Act was intended for citizens who personally know of an irregularity.

Several areas of Georgia are dealing with the fallout from Trump’s claims of a fraudulent election. In Fulton County, the district attorney’s office is building an investigation into whether or not the former president and his allies committed election fraud.
As of Aug. 29, Willis reported her team obtained testimony from 60% of the desired witnesses, including former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, and Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis.
