The New York Knicks have a few special stars on their roster right now.

The team and its fans are very excited about quite a few players in New York, most notably their newcomer Jalen Brunson , who was wooed away from the Dallas Mavericks after a terrific season.

But there is one star who has quickly become a fan favorite beloved above all others: RJ Barrett.

Barrett is about to enter his fourth season in the NBA and just signed a contract extension with the Knicks.

Over the last few years, he has gotten better and better and many Knicks followers see him as the future of the team.

The Knicks celebrated Barrett on social media, tweeting an image showcasing their love of the star with a simple caption: “Year 4 on the way.”

What will Barrett’s fourth year bring the Knicks?

Will it be enough to make them playoff contenders again?

Barrett Is Back

In his first season, Barrett averaged 14.3 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.

Since then, he has moved up and now puts up 20 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3 assists a game.

Barrett is now starting in every game for the team and has greatly improved their offense but is no slouch when it comes to defense too.

The team will need a lot more out of Barrett in the months ahead.

They are desperate to remedy the issues that held them back last season.

After a 2020-21 season that saw them rise through the Eastern Conference and end as the fourth seed, they didn’t even make the playoffs in 2021-22.

While other players on the crew (specifically Julius Randle) had a really rough season, Barrett had his best yet.

There is every reason to believe he will get only better in the year ahead.
