A person was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Palmer Township on Thursday, police said.
The person was killed in the crash around 3 p.m. on Park Avenue between Hackett and Gruver avenues near the Palmer Park Mall, according to Palmer Township Deputy Fire Chief Jim Alercia. He’s also a member of the police department.
Alercia confirmed one person died, one was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and two refused medical treatment on the scene. All four were in the car that crashed, he said.
Skid marks led off Park Avenue just south of Hackett Avenue in the area of the crash. An officer on the scene confirmed that’s where the car left the road, on Park Avenue as it rounds the parking lot near Boscov’s. The dented car was in a small alley off Park Avenue after the crash. Alercia said the car struck an embankment and a pole.
The road is closed in the area of the crash. Police ask drivers to avoid the area.
No further information was immediately available.
