Is ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Streaming on HBO Max or Netflix?

Despite the title, Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling has created quite a few worries, darling, over the past few weeks. From Harry Styles maybe-but-probably-not spitting on Chris Pine to the “Miss Flo” debacle, this new thriller has been keeping movie fans entertained long before it actually released. But now you can finally watch the actual film, because Don’t Worry Darling opens in theaters nationwide this weekend.

Directed by Wilde, with a screenplay from Katie Silberman, the movie stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles as a young, happy ’50s couple, Alice and Jack, who move into a utopian suburban town that has been created and paid for by the mysterious company Jack works for. It doesn’t take long before the cracks in the veneer begin to show, and Alice discovers their new perfect, little town is anything but perfect.

Also starring Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, and Chris Pine, Don’t Worry Darling may not be able to live up to the drama of its production. But we know you want to see it anyhow. UPDATE 10/24/2022: You can finally stop worrying, darling! On Monday, Warner Bros. announced that Don’t Worry Darling is releasing on premium video-on-demand on October 25, 2022. You will be able to buy the film on digital platforms like Amazon, Apple, YouTube, and more for $24.99, and you’ll be able to rent it for a 48-hour rental for $19.99. The company did not specify whether the film would also be streaming on HBO Max.

Don’t Worry Darling will also release on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 29.

WILL DON’T WORRY DARLING BE STREAMING ON HBO MAX?

UPDATE 10/31/2022: HBO Max announced on Twitter today that Don’t Worry Darling would begin streaming on HBO Max on November 7.

Yes, eventually. But Don’t Worry Darling will not be on HBO Max at the same time it opens in theaters, because HBO Max is not streaming theatrical movies in 2022.  Last year, Warner Bros. opted to simultaneously release its theatrical slate on streaming, meaning HBO Max subscribers could watch movies like Matrix Resurrections at home. This year, however, Warner Bros. theatrical movies will have a 45-day theaters-only run before moving to HBO Max.

WHEN WILL DON’T WORRY DARLING BE ON HBO MAX?

UPDATE 10/31/2022: HBO Max announced on Twitter today that Don’t Worry Darling would begin streaming on HBO Max on November 7.

Unfortunately, we don’t know. Until recently, all of Warner Bros. 2022 theatrical releases were released on HBO Max 45 days after opening in theaters. However, after the delayed roll-out of Elvis—which came to HBO Max after 70 days in theaters—it seems Warner Bros. is going back on that strategy. Decider reached out to Warner Media for clarification and was told that movies’ HBO Max release date would now be on a “case by case basis,” rather than a strict 45-day theatrical window.

If Don’t Worry Darling follows the 45-day window, then it should be on HBO Max on Monday, November 7, 2022. However, because this is a highly anticipated movie with a big cast, it’s very possible it will follow in the footsteps of Elvis and stay in theaters for at least 70 days. If that’s the case, you can expect to see Don’t Worry Darling on HBO Max around Friday, December 2.

It’s also possible Warner Bros. will keep the film in theaters even longer. We’ll have to wait and see.

IS DON’T WORRY DARLING ON NETFLIX?

No. Don’t Worry Darling is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film will have a streaming home on HBO Max. If you want to watch the new Don’t Worry Darling movie at home, you’ll have to watch it on HBO Max or purchase the movie on VOD, likely in November or December 2022.
