On Saturday, September 10, 2022, retired Darke County Deputy Rick Genovesi participated in Kentucky State Police Foundation’s Run to Remember 5K. Genovesi took third place in the men’s 50-59 age group. Genovesi says, “It was a privilege to represent the Darke County Sheriff’s Office in this event honoring officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of the citizens in our Country.”
The Run to Remember 5K is a fundraiser that pays tribute to the Kentucky State Police’s (KSP) fallen officers. Retired Deputy Genovesi’s close family member works for the Kentucky State Police, so he decided to run in 2016 in honor of fallen Trooper Cameron Ponder who was fatally shot on September 13, 2015 while conducting a traffic stop. He has participated every year since then and hopes to continue running for years to come.
