Romeoville Police to Give Out Free Light Bulbs Instead of Citations

Many times, a driver is driving with a broken headlight or taillight not because they WANT to, or even because they don’t know. Sometimes it’s because they can’t afford to get it fixed.

That’s where the Lights On! program comes into play. This program provides police officers with a stack of vouchers to get the needed repairs fixed, at no cost to the driver, instead of having to write a citation, which would just exacerbate the underlying issue.

The Romeoville Police Department recently jumped on board with the program!

The hope is this creates more trust in law enforcement officers as well as build a stronger bond with the community.
