Clark County authorities have charged an Amity man for felony assault after an altercation involving a firearm.
Formal charges were filed this week against Killian Gleaves, 18, for his alleged involvement in an Aug. 30, 2022, altercation. According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, police were summoned to a residence at Highway 182 west of Amity; en route to the call, it was learned the complainants had left the scene and were outside Amity City Hall.
The investigating officer, Sgt. Blake Forga, spoke with three complainants who relayed that Gleaves had brandished a scoped rifle during a physical altercation at the residence. The victim reported Gleaves “told him to hold still” before Gleaves’ girlfriend struck the victim in the face. Gleaves then left the area with a female, headed to Hot Springs.
Forga then went to the Highway 182 residence and spoke with a man who didn’t witness the altercation but pointed him in the direction of the rifle Gleaves allegedly brandished. At Forga’s request, the man called Gleaves and handed Forga the phone. Gleaves agreed to meet Forga at City Hall, where he was apprehended and transported to the Clark County Detention Center.
Gleaves told Forga the rifle wasn’t loaded and that he was attempting to scare the complainants during the altercation. He is being charged with aggravated assault, a Class D felony. He has since been released from custody on bond.
