Rutland County Humane Society Duck Derby held Thursday

Thursday, Sept. 22 — RUTLAND — It’s time to “adopt” duckies for Rutland County Humane Society’s 16th annual Duck Derby to raise needed funds for the homeless animals in Rutland County. On Thursday, Sept. 22 at 5:30 p.m., adopted duckies will be launched into the stream at the Pittsford Recreation Area. The first four ducks to reach the finish line win cash prizes. RCHS will also have a cash prize for the last duck.

Ducks are available for adoption online at rchsvt.org, or you can adopt ducks at the RCHS shelter in Pittsford. You can adopt a single duck for $3, a quack-pack (four ducks) for $10 or a six-quack (six ducks) for $15. Ducks can be adopted at the event, as well.

You do not need to be present to win, but come on down and cheer on your ducks. The duckies are in training and are hoping to beat last year’s record of 3,000 ducks. Contact RCHS at 802-483-9171.
