The following contains spoilers from Chicago P.D.‘s Season 10 premiere. Proceed accordingly.
Chicago P.D.‘s Hank Voight is not OK.
Wednesday’s season premiere found the sergeant obsessed with patrolling the block where Los Temidos leader Javier Escano’s once thriving bakery now sits empty after Intelligence brought down his entire drug operation.
Still grieving over Anna’s death, Voight resolved to make sure she didn’t die in vain by working to prevent any new gangs from springing up in Los Temidos’ place. Because of his fixation with that neighborhood, Intelligence took on another drug case, this time involving the death of a young boy who overdosed on a new drug.
The squad, which included newcomer Torres, eventually took down the parties responsible, but not without some tension. Noticing that Voight hasn’t been himself lately, Upton questioned his judgment throughout the case. Halstead also checked in on him, and Voight isn’t one to be babysat.
In a private conversation with both Upton and Halstead, Voight assured them that he is fine and that he didn’t blame Upton for Anna’s death. (Earlier in the episode, Upton noted that he could barely look at her since the incident.) He then stressed that they need to bury this weird tension that’s brewing between the three of them or they can no longer work together.
“It’s just more complicated and messy than he wants to believe,” showrunner Gwen Sigan tells TVLine. “There is still tension, and we see it come out in a few different episodes this season.”
And given everything that Halstead, Upton and Voight went through with the Roy investigation (including covering up a dead body and nearly going to jail), it’s hard to believe that they can all move on like nothing ever happened — especially Halstead, who challenged Voight to do things differently rather than resorting to lying.
“Since Episode 4 of last season, we’ve seen this trio. We’ve seen the three of them and these relationships changing, and Halstead taking on this almost protector [role],” Sigan explains. “He’s kind of protecting Voight from himself, pushing Voight to be better. Voight, in turn, is also changing him. And then you have Upton, who is also involved in all of this, but dealing with it in very different ways.”
This conflict will continue in the coming weeks and eventually come to a head “with the different fractures that come from the three of them in this untenable situation.”
“This relationship is really built on sand in a lot of ways,” Sigan adds. “It can’t sustain forever. We’ll see more cracks in it, for sure.”

Torres proved himself he was savvy he was smart and he knew how to deal with someone as unpredictable as Enzo. Probably because of his gang background but he had a good handle on thing. The takedown of him doing the duck and roll to kick down the door to distract Enzo so Voight cold take the shot was his crowning moment of badass. Still no question he would have made the drug bust had Detective Uppity not decided to play team leader someone needs to remind her that she doesn’t have the sarge stripes to make those calls. Glad to see Voight finally grow a spine and point out how the mini Lannister twins and their issues with him is effecting their work either something changes and the three of them won’t work together anymore.
You are so obsessed with them omg aren’t you tired of doing this on every single platform? Go outside, touch some grass..
You are obsessed with them that you seem to reply to everyone who points out how awful Karen and Kyle are. Follow your own advice and go outside to touch grass or smoke it.
It was nice to see Hailey aka Erin-lite put in her place with her sanctimonious, self righteous self. Absolutely beautiful. Voight has a spine again.
Yeah her character really bugs me. I wouldn’t have been sad if she was leaving instead of Halstead. Don’t see the chemistry between the two of them at all. He was better with Erin. You know that in some way, she will blame Voight for whatever they hav planned that means Jay is leaving. Oiiiiiiii
I wish Halstead would take her with him when he leaves. I can’t stand her. Sanctimonious twunt thinks she’s better than everyone else. She can get gone and stay gone.
You are the kind of people who applaud violence, brutality and corruption. You are disgusting. You need therapy.
You are the kind who love toxic and sanctimonious hypocrite and entitled people when you look at detective Karen and Kyle its like looking in a mirror you love them for it. Follow your own advice and get therapy.
They definitely forced that relationship as her and Ruzek was way better. She’s a way better character than Erin though although Erin had way better chemistry with Jay. Upton’s character has turned into a villain since the Roy Walton case where the fans are hating her now.

Honey, is your keyboard stuck? You keep posting the same stupid comment over and over. Take a hike.
If they admit they’re an upton diehard that would have at least more honest.
Why did u put season 7 back I see it supposed to be 8
I feel a little uneasy about the way the way they changed Upton’s character she’s now hated like Burgess is ever since the Roy Walton case. Whenever this whole thing is over they got to change her up quite a bit where she can be redeemed because right now she’s a villain but I like it at the same time because it makes this storyline way more interesting.

I’m just really curious how the end of Halstead plays out. There certainly is a conflict between Halstead’s loyalty to Voight and his relationship with Hayley but the idea that the resolution to that is he just leaves seems unlikely.
I think Torres is a good fit for intelligence. I am going to miss Jay so much. I hope that they give him an exit that allows for Jay and Hailey to stay together even if Jesse is no longer on the show. I wish it was Voight who was leaving instead of Jay.
If Voight leaves there is no more show.
I think that the show can carry on w/o Voight. They could have given Voight the heave ho and made Jay the head of Intelligence. I mean, Voight even told Jay that one day the unit would be his to lead. Why can’t that day be now?
Hoping this is leading to Jay’s exit with out killing him off. I see Jay saying I had enough of Voight’s BS and transfers out of the unit. If he is killed off I am done. He is the best the show has and killing him off is a real bad idea. Gives me flash backs of killing LaSall off in NCIS:NO. Real bad move!!!!
This comment section is literal cancer. How come people are so bitter, my gosh..
I’m happy One Chicago is back. I thought Jesse Lee Sofer was looking so 🔥🔥🔥! Bet he has a another role lined up. Ill miss him, though.
Have a good day, Ann. 😊
Its not that hard to find out people hate Upton and Halstead for their sanctimonious hypocrisy. Given they have the blood of Darrius Walker and Marcus West on their hands they are the last people who should talk about it. The cancer are people like you who whitewashes or turns a blind eye to their actions. Voight may be a stone cold killer but he never claimed to be some shining knight like Halstead and Upton delude themselves they are.
The whole episode was off. I’m over the Voight/Upton/Halsted triangle. Halsted’s character is the most wishy-washy (thanks to the way they’ve written him). I don’t know if I’ll miss him or not, but this version of Voight is annoying. I know he’s grieving Anna’s loss, but he wasn’t this unmoored when Al and Justin died. He was more angry and focused. Now he’s just out there. His team is losing confidence in him as a leader. Trudy needs to sit him down and have a conversation or a beer or something.
There wasnt enough Trudy in this episode! 💖
I will definitely miss Jay Halstead he was my favorite since the beginning. Hard to find a good way for him to leave will his wife still on the show. My second fav is Rusek and I think him and Kim need to get together.
Dante Torres is a real badass! 💪🏻😍
.
Just keep him away from the Felony Barbie, bad energy…
Wednesday nite is my favorite I watch med then Chicago fire then the best Chicago PD that is the best Nite of the week
Hopefully that’s the end of this particular arc, the never ending Voight/Halstead/Upton merry-go-round is boring.
I think that was the weakest series premiere this show has ever done.
this premire season episode, just BAD. IF this is an indication of continued writing , all the relationship drama bs, i wont be tuning in to chicago pd ,or fire.
