Lora Jane Summers Kelly, 82, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022, at Harmony at Morgantown. Jane was born on Aug. 10, 1939, daughter of the late Frank Summers and Belva Devault Summers Atwood, of Morgantown. She met the love of her life, Ronald L. Kelly, to whom she was married for nearly 65 years, during her junior year in high school. Jane graduated from Morgantown High School in 1957.
Jane and her husband moved to northwest Florida around 1960, where she initially worked as an assistant in an accounting firm. She also attended night school until she earned a college degree in business accounting. Jane then embarked on her full-time career as a certified public accountant working as the general accounting supervisor for American Cyanamid Corporation. Upon her retirement, Jane and her husband moved back to Morgantown, where she reentered the workforce with the West Virginia University Foundation. Jane and Ron lived out the remainder of their years in Morgantown. Jane’s favorite pastimes were spending time with family, playing piano, camping, hiking, gardening, crossword puzzles and caring for animals. She was a conservationist at heart and an avid (wise) fisherwoman.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her two brothers, Russell Summers and John David Summers. She was survived by her husband, Ronald L. Kelly, who followed her 12 days later. Jane is survived by her son, Daniel Clay Kelly; two grandchildren, Reece and Celeste Kelly; and her niece, Molly Summers.
The family would like to thank Kathy, Brook “Red” and Kevin, who cared for Jane at home during her later years.
Friends and family will be received at Community United Methodist Church, 1966 Grafton Road, Morgantown from 9-11:30 a.m., followed by a service from 11:30 a.m.-noon, Sept. 24. Pastor Lawrence Rebelo will be officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
