The first trailer for Steven Moffat's new BBC drama Inside Man, starring David Tennant, Stanley Tucci, Dolly Wells and It's a Sin's Lydia West, is here.

While the trailer – which you can see above – gives little details about the show's upcoming plot, we're introduced to Tennant, Wells and West's characters in what appears to be several tense situations.

Tucci's character, who is on death row in an American prison, narrates over the clips, saying: "There are moments that make murders of us all. No one is safe from the worst that they can do.

"All it takes is a good reason and a bad day."

The synopsis for the show reads: "In the US, a prisoner on death row is seeking atonement as he faces execution. On a train in England, a journalist is looking for a story.

"In a quiet little village, a vicar is picking up his son’s maths tutor from the station. All four are about to be entangled in a dilemma that could lead one of them to murder."

Tennant stars as vicar Henry Watling, Tucci is US prisoner Jefferson Grieff, Dolly Wells is Janice Fife and Lydia West plays Beth Davenport. While each of the character's stories at first appear to be unrelated, the trailer hints that desperate circumstances will lead to them crossing paths.

In a statement last year, Moffat and co-creator Sue Vertue said of the show and its cast: "We're a bit stunned, and very excited, at the acting talent we're managing to assemble for this show.

"Can't wait to crawl out of our lockdown bunker and get to work."

Inside Man will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK on September 26 and on Netflix elsewhere.
